Bob Cooke

Bob Cooke (born 1947) is a Tasmanian disc jockey most notable for being the former co-host at HO FM’s breakfast show with Richard Moore and was formally the host of Heart 107.3’s breakfast show.

At HO-FM, “Cooke & Moore”, placed number one in radio ratings for more than two decades before the show ended in 2003; despite popular support. It was reported that the departure was caused by a dispute between Bob Cooke and management (which had changed hands), with the latter wanting to take the show in another direction.

During the intervening years between leaving HO-FM and joining Heart 107.3, Bob Cooke set up his own woodcraft shop in Kempton, located in the Midlands of Tasmania. Despite his vested interest in woodworking, Bob Cooke was forced to retire after having health complications arising from working with Blackwood.

In late 2005, Bob Cooke joined Heart 107.3, then Magic 107, as their new breakfast show host. Despite his absence, the popular fan base that Bob Cooke had amassed in over 40 years in the radio business heralded his return. As of December 2006 after the departure of his co-host, and management choosing not to search for a replacement, Bob Cooke decided to leave Heart 107.

Since entering the business at the age of 17, Bob Cooke has interviewed some of the most famous and well known people in the world, including prime ministers, actors, and musicians. He is also the recipient of two Logie awards.
