Claudette Colbert (September 13, 1903 - July 30, 1996) was an Academy Award-winning actress. She was a popular leading lady of Paramount Pictures, one of the best-paid movie stars of the 1930s and 1940s. Her assets were heart-shaped face, vibrant voice, and versatility. Film studios liked her to do light comedy as well as emotional drama, Colbert once said, "because they made a lot of money off me." In 1999, she was ranked as the 12th greatest female star of all time of American cinema, by the AFI in their list.
