Augustus De Morgan (June 27, 1806 - March 18, 1871) was a British mathematician and logician, born Madura, Madras Presidency, India (now Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India). He formulated De Morgan's laws and introduced the term mathematical induction, and made its idea rigorous. The De Morgan crater on the Moon is named after him.
